What to put on a page about me? I was born in Birmingham on 17th September 1976. My mum, brother, dad and Scamp (the cat) still live there. I went to King Edward's School in Birmingham before studying a mathematics degree at The Queen's College, Oxford University. I graduated from Queen's in July of 1999 and stayed living in Oxford for a couple of years before moving down to London and buying a flat. Since leaving university, I worked for Arthur Andersen (or Andersen as it became), training as an actuary in their pensions and actuarial team. I left Andersen in 2002 and now work at Lane Clark & Peacock, still doing pensions actuarial work. I am currently still taking actuarial exams which are not altogether fun! Having commuted for two years, I would not recommend this to anyone...trains in the UK are not the most reliable of transport and coaches keep getting caught in traffic. Try spending an hour in traffic knowing that you are going to be late for an important meeting and not able to do anything about it and you'll never want to do it again if you have the choice! My new flat is great. It is only small but it is mine and I am currently trying to get it sorted out exactly the way I want it. As far as my interests and hobbies are concerned, my degree studies have left me with an interest in Mathematics and Sciences. I play most sports. I used to run a lot but gave up after injuring my achilles tendon too many times. I now cycle when I can and play a lot of badminton. I play at the Crescent Badminton Club and also play with them in the Middlesex league. I read a lot of books. I don't really read anything in particular or have a list of favourite authors. I suppose that I read more science fiction and fantasy than anything else. Stephen Donaldson and Robert Jordan feature highly on my bookshelf, along with Robert Rankin, Terry Pratchett and, in a slightly less fantasy vein, Tom Clancy, Anne Rice and Stephen Fry. There are loads of others (when I last moved, books made up four large boxes) but not enough space to detail them and I'm sure you're not all that interested! If you are then why not look at my books page? I still collect and paint fantasy miniatures, although I have given up wargaming with them. If I ever have the time and the inclination, I might add a page of them here. I play around on my PC a lot, changing my web page, emailing friends, playing games (the Baldur's Gate series of games being some of my all time favourites as you might have guessed!) Apart from all this, I enjoy going out with my friends and generally being sociable. Not a lot else to say really. Right, if you are still reading this then you must be absolutely bored out of your mind. Why not follow some of the links on the left hand side or return to my main page and see what else there is on my site. If you want to see some more photos then you could always pop by my photos section. If you want to contact me then you can find me on ICQ number 30660032, email me at mail@paul-meredith.co.uk or leave me a message in my guestbook. |
